Entry after two long Days!

Well, I'm sitting at a new computer desk in the family room. We've been re-arranging these last two days. Now the family room is a combo family room and computer lab. (Two Computers. My family are all nearly computer-holicks.) Its nice, but Oh what a lot of work to get to that point! Lots of cleaning and moving furniture and computers! I'm tired, although we've already enjoyed it. The living room seems empty now, but we'll work on that more later. Our attempt was to help everyone feel like being together more, rather then all in separate rooms. I think we will all enjoy it as time goes on.

When moving computers, I had to convert this one to wireless, and once again, surprisingly MicroSoft and XP cooperated with me to make that part easy. (They've done that a couple of times for me amazingly!) This moving gave me a chance to clean the dust out of this computer, which has been accumulating for quite awhile. I also had one of the CD drives completely apart to see if it could be repaired. It has an interesting problem. It ejects periodically for no reason, and won't stay in when its being used. I thought I saw a couple scraps of paper fall out of it, but it seems to still be acting up. It was interesting anyway. I hadn't had this tower apart before, and hadn't opened a CD drive. My original thought that Compaq had made it easy to open and work on was a bit marred by the difficulty of removing the front cover. It wasn't nearly as easy as changing cards.

I'm thinking about the end of vacation, and getting back to work. I have mixed feelings about it. A few days ago I wrote that I didn't feel like I knew how to be on vacation,. Now after these last few days, even with the hectic re-arranging and cleaning, I'm thinking I'm not ready for it to be over. Oh well, it happens anyway! I'm going back to church for my first rehersal after vacation this evening, and somehow I feel like dragging my feet. It should be nice walking though, since it is cooler and breezy, unless it changes in the next little while. Jaylee and I should have a good time, and the rehersal won't be difficult. Its just the idea of it.Well, have spent as long as I should for now. Have to go feed pets, guides, and perhaps kids, and get ready to leave. Good evening to all.

Kevin

My Birthday, and other life

Hi all! It was a different birthday, but nice. Quiet! House cleaning (routeen Tuesdays), time with the kids, Family Movie (Cameron's choice: Land Before time, Journey through the Mists), Grandma Alice and her friend Eloas coming by, cake and icecream, more down time, etc.

Nice Card from oldest, Cori, which I think I'll have to write down and quote sometime soon.

On other things: we're planning re-arrangements of the family room. How difficult could that be? Monumental for us. Decisions, decisions! I'm told that "simple" is a better life, but we haven't figured out how to do that yet. But the living room is getting more crowded, so thinking we should use our other space more effeciently. A bit of starting cleaning of a very cluttered family room last night, but much more is needed! Anyway, hopefully it will be more comfortable for the whole family, and not just a place to watch TV and leave left-over pop-corn! :-)

Even now, my wife is asking questions about it, and its time to feed the dogs and the family, so have to go for now.

Bye all.

Kevin

Disney Vacation Log

OK guys, here it is! I can't believe my Nokia 6600 won't export notes, but finally got them.

So, Here are my notes, with some aditional help from the family, and minimal editing. Spelling won't be perfect! 3-Key phone pad entry isn't really easy for me, and I'm in a hurry to get this posted before other things get in the way!

==

==

07/23/06

==

Arrived at airport and made it thru security.
Waiting with 2 board kids!

--

Kids are riding eskelators with DeAnza. strange not to have them here.

(Deanza is a wonderful 22-year-old who went along to help out.)

--

Arrived. not bad, but one of the roughest flights i've been on.

--

Hot stuffy humid noisy bus stop outside airport. Keeping track of everything is difficult!
Cameron sees palm trees.

--

On the bus we met an interesting man who had been to eurrop. He is a history teacher in this area.

--

At McDonalds. The kids need it! So do we!

--

Swimming was good relaxation.

--

Just saw the Disney fireworks from our room balcony.

==

07/24/06 (Disney Land)

==

Slept in! Never again!
(The Girls Loved it!)

--

Small World made the trip for me.
Alice in Wonderland story book made me dizzy.
About 3700 points in buzz lightyear ride (with Cori's help).
Hit the parade of dreams by mistake, but it was good!

--

Girls went back to Disney for Roller Coasters that mom Cameron and I couldn't handle, encluding:
Space Mountain, Madder Horn, Thunder Mountain, and Splash Mountain.

--

(they got stuck on Splash Mountain and got to go twice, because the girl working the ride didn't know they had all ready gone once.)

==

07/25/06 (California Adventure)

==

speed up things!Decided handicapped passes were justified, and did it. (Three blind people, 2 sighted older kids, and a young child who needed quite a bit of attention.)

--

Soaring over california!

--

Grisley rafts! Wet!

--

Soaring over CA again
then the kids took a 2nd on the river ride.
Time to eat!

--

Muppet Vision 3D.
Entry on a Very Hot Day!

Well, Disney vacation is over, & it is recoop time. That is hard to do with the temp around 100dg! WOW! It does make good time for take-it-easy things.

Movies like "Sound of Music" & a Shirley Temple sampler.

It was very nice to get home and get the dogs back. (2 guide dogs, a poodle, & a chihuahua!) Also unusual for me not to be going to church on a Sunday & play the organ from 8:00 to noon. That's vacation, but I'm not used to it. Anyway, slow days really are refreshing!

Still intend to post my disney notes from my phone, although I am still figuring out how to do it! Anyway, it's comming.

Looking forward to getting back to music: organ and theremin, which I haven't "touched" (so to speak) for weeks. (You don't touch a theremin to play it!)

Well, more later when things start happening.

Cheers! Kevin

After Vacation!

Wow! After being in California since Sunday, I believe I will take hot and dry over hot and humid, although people tell me it was that way hear as well! We had an exciting, although exausting trip, but I was able to enjoy both the activities and my kid's reactions to the whole thing. Perhaps you caught a bit of the excitement if you were able to hear my last phone post, taken near a Disney Land rollercoaster. I took lots of text notes on my phone (3-keys each letter) which I intend to transcribe sometime soon. Although the notes became smaller and fewer as the trip went on (caused by tiredness), they will give a nice record of a good number of the events of the trip. My daughter Cori took lots of pictures, and perhaps I can post some of those too. Any, we all made it, and are glad to be home. More later.

Kevin

It seems a good time to try it, since we are headed for Disney Land. It should present a good number of things to comment on.

Since it is late, I'm not going to say much now, because I am tired, and will make more computer-braille mistakes then it is worth. (Using a braille keyboard, in case you needed clarification.) So, that's all for now, until our first vacation journal entry!

Kevin
